I submitted the sitemap generated by RankMath to Google Search Console and it shows “Couldn’t fetch” error.
1) I tried loading the XML file https://www.meghaskitchen.ml/sitemap_index.xml in firefox browser. It takes forever to download in Fire Fox Browser (the tab icon on the upper left shows animated dot showing that it is working on downloading the URL), I cannot even right click to get to “View Page Source” menu item.
2) On Google Chrome I am able to see the sitemap XML loaded.
3) On Microsoft Edge I am able to see the sitemap XML loaded.

Hello,
Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.
If you recently saved Rank Math settings or your permalinks, that huge load time could be Rank Math was regenerating the entire sitemap (and it can take a little). If you test it on Firefox now, is the issue still happening? Since for me it just loaded fine.
Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.
It still is taking forever to load the sitemap in FireFox. This issue has been going around since May 22.
Hello,
Thank you for contacting Rank Math today.
I have attached a screen cast in the sensitive section where I access your sitemap with firefox and it is loading perfectly fine. Could you please test on your end with a different device and let us know.
Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.
My main problem is with Google Search Console not able to crawl the sitemap, as the Google Sitemap shows “Couldn’t fetch” error message against the sitemap link since May 22, 2020.
I tried loading the sitemap URL with my cell phone too using
1) Google Chrome (shows blank page) and
2) Firefox (Shows error message “Error loading stylesheet: An unknown error has occured (805303f4), https://www.meghaskitchen.ml/main-sitemap.xsl”)Hi Milind,
Assuming Google’s unable to fetch the Sitemap is a bug on their end. Please read here
https://support.google.com/webmasters/thread/3280971?hl=enIt’s happening with other SEO plugins as well.
The most prominent reason behind that seems to be the introduction of the Indexing API
https://rankmath.com/blog/google-indexing-api/Google has plans to drop the use of Sitemaps and allow indexing API.
With that said, if your Sitemap is opening fine and online tools, such as the below one, shows no error, you should be fine
https://www.xml-sitemaps.com/validate-xml-sitemap.htmlIt loads pretty fast as well:
https://www.webpagetest.org/result/200606_PW_95ffbfb3e6bbf2cca94a7ea0b8756dcf/With that said, always submit only the index of the Sitemap, which looks like this
https://rankmath.com/sitemap_index.xml
Hope that clears the confusion.
Hello,
Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.
Are yiu still facing this issue? If so we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/
You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):
https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-security-audit-log/
We really look forward to helping you.
Do you need the admin id for my WordPress?
Where is the Secure area where I can submit the userid and password?
Hello,
When you say you got the no-index error, on which URL? Because if you got the error about indexing in the sitemap, it is normal since the sitemap doesn’t have to be indexed (you don’t want your sitemap appearing in the search results).
If it is not the URL where you got the error, could you share the affected URL so we can check it?
Looking forward to help you.
The error was received for the sitemap_index.xml
Hello,
Thanks for getting in touch.
I have validated your sitemap with this tool: https://www.xml-sitemaps.com/validate-xml-sitemap.html and it seems to have no issues.
Have you verified the correct version of your website on Google? Please check if you have verified the www (or non-www) and https (or http) version of your website. If there is a mismatch, please fix that.
You should also make sure you have cleared the cache and excluded Google bot from seeing a cached version of your sitemap.
If you have followed these and you are able to view your sitemap without any problem, then Rank Math is outputting your sitemap correctly and the error must be coming from Google. You can try and use a 3rd party sitemap plugin to confirm. Just make sure you have disabled the Sitemap module of Rank Math in
WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > Dashboard
when using a 3rd party sitemap plugin. If the other plugin works, please do let us know.
Thank you.
I don’t know what you mean by the following.

Hello,
He is talking about verifying your website in the Search Console (https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/9008080?hl=en). If you used some of the methods where you verify not the domain but the URL, you have to check if you verified the same URL your website is using. For example, if your website is https://www.website.com; you have to make sure you verify that URL and not http://www.website.com, http://website.com or https://website.com
Looking forward to help you.
Here is what I have submitted for sitemap.
Hello,
And you still face the load issue? Have you tried it in an incognito tab? Since I just checked and it loads really fast as you can see in this screencast: https://i.rankmath.com/mmfWQe
Looking forward to help you.
