GS console no index

#277454
  • Hello
I have an index problem and would like your advise. Should I wait or should I republish with new URL slug?..

On july2021 I published my first 3 articles on a new pet blog on wordpress.

On 07OCT2021 I understood that my 3 articles were taged no index.
I corrected 3 things (see below for details) but since then, they are still no index (according to google search console).
    Is this normal?
Have I corrected my sitemap properly?
Should I republish my articles with different URL slug?

    Some details
    – I purges my WP cache (in Siteground), deleted sitemap, went to WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > Sitemap Settings> I hit the save button, and resubmitted sitemap in google search console.
    – RankMath plugin> global meta> set to index (see screenshot)
    – WP edit (each individual)post> rankmath sidebar > set index (see screenshot)
    – In google search console I inspected URL of these 3 articles and asked to index them.
    – In google search console I pressed the VALIDATE tab.
    – I checked home URL and URL of these 3 articles on https://datayze.com/index-noindex and they are indexable
    – I went though your following articles:

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Those pages are already correct and are ready to be indexed, however, the last time that Google crawled them was in August and that is likely because your sitemap is being cached and not updated instantly.

We recommend that you follow these steps:

    1. Flush the sitemap by following this tutorial: https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp

    2. Make sure that you exclude your sitemap from being cached by following this tutorial: https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

After performing these you should resubmit the sitemap to Google Search Console by following this tutorial: https://rankmath.com/kb/submit-sitemap-to-google/

Lastly, wait a couple of days for Google to crawl the sitemap and see the updated results.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.

Thank you very much for your prompt reply.

I did edit the .htaccess by adding into Rank Math > General Settings > Edit .htaccess THE FOLLOWING:

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteRule .* – [E=Cache-Control:no-cache]

Question how do I verify the following?
“Now, check your sitemap to see if it is excluded from cache” (from article https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/)

    Hello,

You can check that by publishing a new test post and then checking your sitemap if that post is included in your sitemap as soon as you publish. If it does then your sitemap isn’t getting cached.

Let us know how that goes. Looking forward to your update.

    Thanks.

    Thanks!!

    Hello,

    Hello

I would love your opinion on the following.

Since google has not yet indexed my first posts (that were initially tagged no index) but has indexed my newer posts, I was considering the following:

To change the URL of the not yet indexed posts, which if I get it right is the same as deleting the old posts and republishing the same content with new URL slug.

Would you advise this? or does it make more harm than good.

    Thank you

    Hello,

You can check the affected URLs with Google’s URL Inspection Tool and request indexing: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/9012289?hl=en#request_indexing

Let us know how that goes. Looking forward to your update.

I Have requested indexing at least 3 times in the last month.

So I am thinking of changing the URLs as per my question above.

    Would you advise against it?

    Thank you

    Hello,

If Google has decided to not index those URLs then just changing the URLs of those posts isn’t going to make much difference. You shouldn’t change the URLs as they are important for your site’s structure.

You should try making some changes to the content of those posts and getting some backlinks for them. Here is a guide that can help you get backlinks: https://neilpatel.com/blog/how-to-build-backlinks/

    Thanks.

    Hello
    in your post
    https://rankmath.com/kb/titles-and-meta/
In Glabal settings it is recommended, (if we want to get indexed) to leave “Robots Meta” unchecked!

But I would guess that if we want to get indexed we should check the Index tab.

WP dashbord > RankMath > Global Meta > Robot Meta >

Would love you to clarify this

    Thank you

    Hello,

We recommend keeping those unchecked so you can manage the indexing on a per post or page level. If you leave the Global Robots Meta unchecked then the settings from the Post types robots meta or from the Advanced tab of the meta box will be applied to your posts. So you can decide which post/page/category/etc, you want to index and which ones you want to keep noindex.

Hope this clarifies your doubts. Let us know if you need any other assistance.

    Thanks.

    That makes sense
    Thank you
