  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math support, and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

You have currently 2 og:image tags on your website which might cause the issue. Also, it seems that you are using Yoast SEO on your website. You might need to check this with them as they are the ones generating your social meta.

Please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

I just switched to yoast right now because of the error I faced with rank math blank images to see if it will correct. I can switch back to my rankmath now if you can help me resolve it now, I have been using rankmath for a long time now, I had to switch when I’m looking for a solution to the blank images in my social media.

    Hello,

As we mentioned before, your website has 2 og:image properties, and as such Facebook is looking at the first one and parsing that.

The URL of that image is the one shared in the sensitive data section.

If you would like to change that you need to check where that tag is coming from, either from your theme or any other plugin that you are using on your website.

After removing that and switching to Rank Math the image you set with our plugin will load when you share the homepage on Facebook.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.

Is there a way I can manually remove an og tag from my website?

    Hello,

Both the og:image tags are likely generated dynamically so it would not be possible to directly remove them.

However, you can follow this troubleshooting guide to determine the plugin/theme adding the duplicate OG tags: https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/

Here is a video you can follow as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcIWRhcUP2c

Only the site admin would know and your users won’t be affected by this troubleshooting.

Once found, you can disable the OG tags and other SEO features of that plugin/theme to fix the issue.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks for your quick reply, I have followed all the steps and reactivated my rankmath but still showing blank images on Facebook only, Twitter works fine. Can you check if it has only a single OG TAG now?

    Hello,

The logo’s resolution you are using is too big. Please make sure that the image you are using has the recommended image size. Recommended image size is as close as 1200 x 630 pixels.

Also, there are still duplicate meta tags in your page’s source code. If possible, we can take a closer look at your website to determine which plugin/theme adds the. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

I logged in to your website and checked the settings.

I installed the Health check plugin and checked for conflicts.

The JNews – Meta Header plugin is adding the extra og tags.

Check the screencast in the sensitive data section.

If you have an option to disable the og tags from this plugin, please disable that.

If there is no option, please get in touch with the plugin developer and ask them to remove the og tags.

Also, ensure that you are using image of recommended size 1200 x 630.

    Hope that helps.

    Looking forward to helping you.

Thank you for checking, I just diactivtated the plugin now. Can you check if the OG tag still appears twice? I still checked from my end after the plugin is disabled and it still shows a blank image on Facebook when a link a is shared.

    Hello,

I can confirm the duplicate og:image tag is no longer appearing on your website. Can you please clear your website cache including any server-level caching service like Cloudflare and check your website again on Facebook?

Let us know how that goes. Looking forward to helping you.

I just purged my server cache and tried my link on Facebook but it still appears to be blank.

    Hello,

Facebook is fetching the image URL correctly from the OpenGraph tags but is unable to show the image in the preview. This must have been caused due to the resolution of the image. Please use an image with the recommended resolution of 1200 x 630. The image in the link preview should work fine with the recommended resolution.

Let us know how that goes. Looking forward to helping you.

Apart from the homepage that needs the image to be resized, what about other pages in my website that don’t still show featured images when shared on Facebook? This is the last post I published to check but still not working.

    Hello,

The featured image of your post is in WebP format. Facebook doesn’t support WebP images for the OpenGraph tags and that’s why our plugin doesn’t add them as og:image. That’s why the default fallback image(your logo) is being added as the og:image and showing blank in the link preview.

The Open Graph only supports image/jpeg, image/gif, or image/png.

You can also check this link for the standard image file extensions supported by Open Graph:
    https://developers.facebook.com/docs/sharing/webmasters/#images

Please use the supported format to fix the issue.

    I hope that helps.

Thank you, and please don’t hesitate to contact us anytime if you need further assistance with anything else.
