404 monitor and redirections do not work

Hi, I am writing to communicate that, even if the plugin is configured well (I followed the guide perfectly), there are anomalies in the 404 monitor and in the redirections. In the first case, there are some very strange 404 errors including my home page (my home page link is detected as an error in the 404 monitor). This is very strange because the link on my home page works perfectly. I tried to create a 404 link with a link that doesn’t exist on my site but the monitor doesn’t detect it. I have redirected links with error 404 but they do not work except those made with yoast seo.
    Thanks for your help

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting the support and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

We might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-security-audit-log/

We really look forward to helping you.

I would need your email to create a temporary user with the Temporary Login Without Password plugin
    thanks

    Hi,

    Thanks so much

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math today.

The reason the 404 monitor isn’t picking up any non existent links is because you have set a custom redirection page in Rank math > General settings> Redirection. If you wish to use the 404 monitor to redirect your 404 pages, you can switch to default 404 in redirection settings.

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

    Hi,

thanks for the reply but I don’t understand the solution that has been proposed to me. If I set a custom redirect for the appearance of pages with error 404 it should not give problems of this type (I did it to have a no-standard 404 error page with a button for the home page). Anyway I have set the default 404 in the redirect settings and now the 404 monitor detects nonexistent links (with the consequence of having pages with standard 404 error and aesthetically bad). But the other problems unfortunately remain. The link to my home page is detected as an error in the 404 monitor. I manually redirected links with a 404 error but they are not working. For example the link wp-admin / js / 404.php is redirected to the home page but it doesn’t work.

    Thanks for your help

    Hello

We released a quick Beta update to fix the issue.

Please enable the Beta update by following this:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/version-control/#beta-updates

    beta update

If you are unable to see an update, please clear Rank Math’s transients from:
WP Dashboard > Rank Math > Status & Tools > Database Tools > Remove Rank Math Transients > Remove transients
    remove transients rank math

Please clear the caches, server, and WordPress after updating.

If the issue is still not resolved, please let us know.

We are here to assist. Thank you.

    Hello,

Thanks for the reply. I cleared Rank Math’s transients even though I just installed a new update and cleared the cache. The problem persists. However I don’t think I enable the beta update on my live site. It is not recommended by yourself. You write this on your site: “Remember, beta updates are not meant to be installed on live / production sites as they may stop. We highly recommend installing beta updates only on a test or staging environment and never on live sites. ”

I hope it can be resolved in another way

    Thanks for your help

    Hello,

Luckily we released an update (Rank Math 1.0.44) which is an official release (not a beta release) and it could fix your issue. Could you check it?

    Looking forward to help you.

    Hello,

Yes, I already updated yesterday with the official version (1.0.44). Today I tried to manually redirect two new 404 errors and they seem to work. But the link wp-admin / js / 404.php (it is redirected to the home page) still does not work. However the link that does not work is not very important, I just tell you to report it. As for the last anomaly (the link to my home page is detected as an error in the 404 monitor), it has not been there in the last few days so I don’t know what to say. Maybe it has resolved. I’ll let you know.

    thanks for the support

    Hi Federico,

That URL is showing me a regular 404:

As for seeing your homepage in the 404s, if you notice other 404s on that stats page – you will notice they are all relative.

So, when you see a 404 on your main domain name, that actually means someone or a bot is also trying to access your website at https://example.com/https://example.com

You can simply ignore this 404 and go about your day 🙂

There is nothing to be worried about.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hi Todd,

thanks for your reply. As for the visualization of the home page in the 404, your explanation reassures me and makes me very happy. But what does 404 mean relative? where do you see the statistics page?
As for the link wp-admin / js / 404.php, it should not show a normal 404 because it is redirected to the home page.
    Thanks for the support
