    Good afternoon. I just can not beat the problem.
    Incorrect http header content-type: “text / html; charset = UTF-8” (expected: “application / xml”)
    The error occurs only /sitemap_index.xml
    In others, I did not notice this.
    I disabled all plugins, themes, the error does not change.
    But I tracked what the problem was. I have Hummingbird plugin installed, as soon as I clear the cache and check the validation, everything shows without errors,
    should I go to the site map and refresh the page, re-checking the validation says that there is an error. If you clear the cache and disable this plugin and refresh the site map page, then there is no error.
    Here’s what to do, this plugin significantly speeds up the loading of pages by pagespeed.

    It visually displays well, but Google swears on validation as well I checked https://www.xml-sitemaps.com/ Also an error

    Hi Максим,

    It looks like the sitemap file was being cached by Hummingbird plugin.

    I have added the sitemap file to the exclusion list and the validation passes now.

    You might want to check again with GSC.

    Thank you very much. Yeah, I understand now, now I will know how to manage this cache plugin and make exceptions.
    But what if the pages of the site grow well, the pagination goes page by page, just add a constantly new file to the exception?
    post-sitemap1.xml
    post-sitemap2.xml
    post-sitemap3.xml
    post-sitemap4.xml
    …
    Or maybe somehow you can specify for all, for example: post – *.xml

    Adding an exception for the sitemap_index should be sufficient or you can add all .xml files to the exclusion list.
