    Hi,

I have a wp-multisite install. The issue is that the URL of the sitemap from RankMath is different of the URL I have to set up in GSC for the main subsite.

How can I fix this? Thanks

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math for help with your sitemaps.

You can remove the incorrect sitemap from your Google Search Console (GSC) and submit the correct one. Google has a guide on how to submit your sitemap: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/7451001#zippy=%2Csubmit-a-sitemap

I hope that helps. Please let us know if you have questions. We are here to help.

    Thanks for your answer

This is not an issue with GSC.

This is an issue of how RankMath interprets Multisite in a different way than GSC.

    In GSC I have
    !) A domain property:
    example.com
    and
    2) A different property for each subsite
    example.com/es example.com/en example.com/ar

In GSC the base url (example.com/ar) for each subsite property is predetermined for the sitemap and can’t be changed

In RankMath for the subsite example.com/ar the sitemap appears as the sitemap of the domain example.com not as sitemap of the subsite:
    https://example.com/post-sitemap.xml

In GSC in this property I have example.com/ar/ and it can’t be changed. As you can see the sitemap has not /ar/ in the URL

    Hello,

Thank you for the additional information. It helped your issue.

There may be a sitemap rewrites issue with your on your server settings. To confirm this, we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

    Hello,

I logged in to your multisite dashboard and checked the list of websites. there is no /ar/ site as you mentioned. Please see the list of subsites I found in sensitive data.

I tested the sitemaps for each of the sites on the list and it is working correctly except for ‘/ab/’ where Rank Math disactivated.

I hope that helps. If you have questions, do not hesitate to ask. We are here to help.

    Hi Nigel

Thanks and sorry for the inconvenience.
I am aware. I know that the /ar/ site is also the main site.

The point is that when I created the Multisite in 2014 the word /blog/ was hard coded for the main site, I was enable to change it so I redirect the main site example.com to example.com/es/ years letter wp changed /blog/ to editable so I decided to use /ar/ instead of /blog/
This was always confusing and they didn’t update the KB https://wordpress.org/support/article/multisite-network-administration/

GSC recognizes the /ar/ subsite and I can track it separately, but I can’t upload the site map. I have to include it in the main property.
    Thanks again.

    hello,

Thank you for the further explanation. The issue complicated indeed.

One solution could be to add code that automatically creates a copy of https://yoursite.com/sitemap_index.xml and saves it to https://yoursite.com/ar/sitemap_index.xml

Unfortunately the implementation of such a solution is beyond the scope of our support.

    I hope that helps.

    Thanks for all your help
