XML error

    Hello RankMath,

    I have the following error when viewing the URL for the sitemap generated link:

    This page contains the following errors:

    error on line 2 at column 6: XML declaration allowed only at the start of the document
    Below is a rendering of the page up to the first error.

    Can you please advise how to resolve the issue.

    Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

    This error might be caused by a blank line/space in your wp-config.php file or your theme’s functions.php file. If there is no such blank space in your wp-config.php or functions.php file, check for a plugin conflict by following these steps:

    Also, make sure your cache is disabled as it is highly likely that the cache is interfering with the working of Sitemap functionality of Rank Math.

    Thanks for your fast response Michael.

    The site-map was working in Yoast and All-in-one SEO. I have moved the theme over to another WP template and the same issue applies.

    The Health Check App churns out recommendations that are not relevant most of the time.

    I have uninstalled and re-added RM to no avail.

    There are 2 errors –

    The REST API request failed due to an error.
    Error: [] cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 10003 milliseconds with 0 bytes received

    The loopback request to your site failed, this means features relying on them are not currently working as expected.
    Error encountered: (0) cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 10002 milliseconds with 0 bytes received

    I am still stuck…

    Thanks for the follow up.

    The generation of the sitemap file works a bit different on each plugin. Have you checked for white spaces at the top of your wp-config.php and your theme’s functions.php file?

    If so, we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

    It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    Hello Michael,

    I have managed to locate the issue. There is a plugin conflict with RankMath and StatCounter.

    For now I have disabled RankMath until there is a fix.
