  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with the Remove category base option while using WPML with Rank Math. It seems that the functionality is not working as expected for the secondary language, which is a known issue when translating slugs.

To address this, you can try enabling the Remove category base option in Rank Math’s settings. Here’s how to do it:

    1. Go to Rank Math SEO → General Settings → Links.
    2. Look for the Strip Category Base option and enable it.

    Strip Category Base

This should help in removing the /product-category/ from your permalinks in the secondary language as well. However, if the issue persists, we recommend checking your WPML settings or adding custom code to handle the translations properly.

If you need further assistance, please reply to this ticket, and a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will take over and provide more specific guidance.

Thank you for raising this concern!

    Hello,

Unfortunately, the feature to remove the category base does not work properly when the base is translated.

Our plugin looks for the default product base and can’t identify its translations for that option, and that’s why the option doesn’t work for the secondary languages if the base is translated. Our developers and WPML are already aware of it and it should be improved in a future update.

You can see the same here: https://wpml.org/errata/rank-math-seo-turning-on-strip-category-base-causes-issues-with-secondary-languages/

Hope that helps and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you.

when do you expect the update?
