when i look at the sitemap, rank math doesn’t show any of my images, however it does show the “works” page, just looks empty.

Meanwhile, please try to follow the steps below and see if that works for you.
1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:

2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:

3. If the above steps don’t seem to work, kindly apply the following filter to your site.
add_filter( 'rank_math/sitemap/enable_caching', '__return_false');

The sitemap is not detecting those images because they were not added using “img” element. They are not really images if considering them from an HTML standpoint. See the image in the sensitive data section. The Widget you used to add them to the page used a “DIV” and added the image as a background using inline CSS. Since bots and crawlers read the front content (HTML markup) of the site, only image added with the IMG element will be detected as images. That is the same reason it doesn’t get detected by Rank Math’s sitemap.
You might consider using a different widget that adds images with the proper image element to display images on the affected pages.
