WooCommerce Product Category Base Disappeared

    Hi,

Before, the URL strucuture was working perfectly as intended. /shop as main shop site (not really in use), prodcut categories as /[product-category] and the products themselves underneath that structure at /[product-category]/[product]. Now, /[product-category]/[product] is just /[product]. The settings haven’t really been changed at all. On the site, the URL structure still appears intact, as I’ve added 301 redirections to temporarily “fix” this problem, but the underlying URLs should be set as intended again too, of course.

Any help is greatly appreciated, as I went through all the options but couldn’t find the issue causing this to change now.

    Thanks,
    Jan

    Hi Jan,

Thanks for getting in touch with us.

You must have enabled the strip show and category bases options in Rank math.

If you wish, you can disable the option and everything will go back to being as it was.

;WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > General Settings > WooCommerce.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Hey Todd,

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly!

I’m not quite sure which options you advise to change exactly. In the sensitive data are are some snapshots of the related settings.

Hi, I did that, which in combination with %category% in the WP permalink settings, lead to the right URL structure being displayed in the shop site. But unfortunately, those all lead to 404s on the product pages themselves (see sensitive data).

    Hi Jan,

    Thanks for the reply.

Here is a screenshot of how the default settings should look like :

    Permalinks

I hope this helps. Thank you.

    Hi Michael,

I understand, but what I had achieved before and want to have is /[product-category]/[product] as the URL structure. I don’t want some default base (such as /product/) and instead the product category for the product pages’ hierarchy.

    Thank you,
    Jan

    Hi Jan,

Please head over to WordPress Dashboard > Settings > Permalinks.

Choose Custom base and use this setting:
    null

Then, head over to WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > General Settings > WooCommerce.

    Turn these three options off:
    null

That will do the trick and your product pages will show up as:
    /[product-category]/[product]

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
