Why the Different Colors of Green and Red?

Someone, please help me understand Rank Math’s latest update–My SEO items on blogs are now showing variations of green and red (lighter green checks vs. darker green checks, and the same with red).

For instance, I have the following message on a recent blog: “Content is 634 words long. Good job!” But the circle next to it is a faded red checkmark, no a fully-filled in green (or hell, even partially filled in green) checkmark.

I take away a few words to go back below the 600-word threshold rank math loves, and I get a red x–clearly telling me I need more words. So why, when I am over 600 words, is my checkmark red and not green?

    Hi Emily,

There are certain tests that require more work and you would notice different colors like these

So, if a test does not have a solid green, then it needs more work to be done.

You can follow the following guide to reach 100:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/score-100-in-tests/

But please stay advised that these tests are just guidelines and one does not need to follow them religiously.

At the end of the day, the content needs to be written for the readers and not for the search engines.

Scoring higher points in Rank Math’s tests won’t guarantee higher rankings.

    Hope that helps. Thank you.

So… are we now saying content of 1000 words or more (or up to 2500 according to this guide) is good practice? That’s a big change from results I was getting from Rank Math not too long ago (green the second I crossed 600). Good to know, I suppose, though I’ll still use my own judgement of course. That seems an arbitrarily high bar to set for a lot of content, even well-written and thorough content–depending, of course, on what you’re writing. That explains why even 1000+ word pieces aren’t getting a green tick, though.
