Why SEO standards of Rank Math and Yoast are different?

  • Why SEO standards of Rank Math and Yoast are different?
I tried Yoast pro for 1 website and Rank Math for another website. I saw some differences in SEO standards between Yoast and Rank Math. The website with Yoast pro is easy to display on top result when searching for related key words.
My friend also agrees with that. He said, he installed Rank Math, then correct all suggestion as Rank Math suggested. Then he installed Yoast Pro, imported all SEO data from Rank Math. He checked with Yoast and had to correct much data again if he wants to follow Yoast suggestion.
Thus, do you have any explanation for that issue?

  • Hello,

Thanks for getting in touch with us.

Every plugin works differently and have different researches and teams backing them. I can’t speak for others but the tests we have in Rank Math are backed by research and every single one of the tests we run affect your rankings – directly or indirectly.

It all boils down to what your preferences are. For example, many people use Rank Math because of our no-nonsense tests that are known to affect rankings.

We are always tweaking our tests as per latest search engine ranking factors made available by Google or other researchers. When we know a test is no longer applicable, we remove it.

For example, the readability tests no longer made sense after the BERT update which is much more comprehensive and cannot be gauged by something traditional like a Flesch score. So, we removed the test.

If you like the tests Rank Math provides, use Rank Math. If you think the tests in the other SEO plugins are more in line with your SEO methodology – use that one.

At its core, these are all tools and how much effective they turn out to be depends on you as a user.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
