Whenever I try to save the plugin settings, I get taken to a 404 page

    Rank Math free

Hi. I just installed rank math on my live site.

First, I can’t reset my password for the account I used for my localhost site. I get a reset password link, but I’m told it’s not valid after I open it.

Second, after installing the plugin, I still want to set up a few things under general settings, yet every time I hit save, I go to a 404 page and nothing is saved. How can I fix this? 🙁 Other sections e.g. titles & meta are ok)

Clearing the website and browser caches didn’t help.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

This error suggests that there is a conflict with one of your installed plugins. Could you please perform the diagnostic steps on this page and let me know how this goes:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/
Could you please try to open the reset password link on an incognito window on your browser and check if this will fix the issue?

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

It only had an issue with Yoast when I installed it. Yoast is deactivated, but until Rank Math is 100% functional, I won’t uninstall it, as well.

I tried using the plugin yuu mentioned. However, I get this error when I try to enable rank math with troubleshooting: When enabling the plugin, seo-by-rank-math, a site failure occurred. Because of this the change was automatically reverted. 🙁

As for the password, I ended up creating a new account with my business email.

EDIT: I was able to enable rankmath with troubleshoot differently. The save option still doesn’t work 🙁

    Hi there,

We might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-security-audit-log/

We really look forward to helping you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math today.

There are a number of directives on your .htaccess that might be causing this. I am passing this along to our dev team for closer investigation and we will be getting back to you in a short while.

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

    Thank you very much!

    Hello,

I tried to access your site with the login details you shared, but as soon as I log in, I get redirected to 127.0.0.1. The same happens when I manually type in your site URL with /wp-admin. This could be related to the .htaccess issue mentioned by my colleague, however, I cannot confirm this since I do not see the contents of the .htaccess file.

The description of the issue in your first post suggests some kind of server configuration issue. Your server returns a 404 (not found) error instead of the actual error. It might be related to a server setting, for example a too low max_input_vars directive, or it might be a security feature on your server that gives a false positive for one of the input names when you save the settings.

Please get in touch with your hosting provider to know more about that error.

    Hope that helps.

Hi. My log-in URL is not /wp-admin. I mentioned the correct one in the sensitive data section. Being blocked from the blog means you failed to log in or you are accessing my site from a previously blocked IP.

I unlocked the only IP that was blocked today. If you use the correct information, you should be able to log in.

    Hello,

Now I tried to log in the same way as last time and this time it worked. Then I navigated to Rank Math > General Settings, and I tried to save the options which also worked correctly. Here is a screencast showing the same: https://i.mythemeshop.com/nw9O7n

Is the issue still happening for you? Is it happening every time or intermittently?

It might be related to your system configuration. Could you please test it on a different browser and/or on a different device?

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hi.

I spoke to my host yesterday and they managed to fix it. However, it was a very long chat, and I didn’t have the time to post an update here. Sorry for that.

Thank you very much for all your help.

    Hello,

We are super happy that this resolved your issue. If you have any other questions in the future, know that we are here to help you.

If you don’t mind me asking, could you please leave us a review (if you haven’t already) on https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/seo-by-rank-math/reviews/?rate=5#new-post about your overall experience with Rank Math? We appreciate your time and patience.

If you do have another question in the future, please feel free to create a new forum topic, and it will be our pleasure to assist you again.

    Thank you.
