When you receive errors you can’t handle

Hello, don’t know if this can be written here as i assume it has maybe nothing to do with the plugin itself.

I saw some 404 strange errors that i can’d find a solution and don’t know how to fix them.

    For example:

    data/admin/allowurl.txt
    (NO REFERER
    AGENT: Mediapartners-Google or Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; proximic; +https://www.comscore.com/Web-Crawler
    AGENT: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/IP Safari/537.36Chrome IP
    )

I didn’t found anything in the Net about this file, and there’s nothing similar in my web structure.

What is better do when you don’t know how to fix an error?
    – Just erase that log?
    – Redirect to the homepage as at least will serve as a visit or a better solution for not leaving that request in blank?
    – Tell the redirection that the page or file doesn’t exists?

Also have some “feed” 404 errors like:

    nes-nintendo/feed
    (REFERER: https://www.google.com/ AGENT: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_14_6) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/IP Safari/537.36Chrome IP)

    adivina-pregunta/audio-cine/feed
    (REFERER: https://www.google.com/ AGENT: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_15_3) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/IP Safari/537.36Chrome IP)

But those are related to old permalink structures of categories i had in the past. Isn’t Google refreshing those results after one month or similar? How can i be receiving those /feed requests today? If my feed doesn’t has that results actually. I think i had that permalink structure maybe minimum a year ago, as i deleted those categories long ago.

What is better do in those cases when you can’t find a solution or don’t know where the error is coming from? In this case, i don’t rememeber having a category feed or using something similar, so it must be something very old (years ago).

In this /feed case, i don’t know what will be a better solution. I think i have to choose from the same 3 “solutions”.
    – Just erase that log?
    – Redirect to the homepage or the feed as at least will serve as a visit or a better solution for not leaving that request in blank?
    – Tell the redirection that this feed doesn’t exists anymore?

    Thanks.

    Hello,

Thanks a lot for your query and we are so sorry about the trouble this must have caused.

We can only tell you about the 404s. We don’t know where they are coming from. You have to check that yourself.

You have to check where the users are landing from to know. Do that from WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > General Settings > 404 Monitor. Enable the advanced 404 monitor to see a new “referrer” column in the monitor.

Here’s how to fix the 404s with Rank Math.
