  • Hello,

Thank you for reaching out with your questions regarding HTML sitemaps.

    1. Link Limit in HTML Sitemaps: There is no specific link limit for HTML sitemaps. However, it is recommended to keep the number of links reasonable to ensure a good user experience and efficient crawling by search engines.

    2. Creating a Page for HTML Sitemaps: Yes, you can create a dedicated page on your website to host the HTML sitemap. This makes it easier for visitors to navigate through your site’s content.

    3. SEO Optimization for HTML Sitemaps: While you do not need to perform SEO optimization directly on the HTML sitemap page, it is essential to ensure that the HTML sitemap is accessible to search engines for crawling. You should not index the HTML sitemap page itself as it is meant for human visitors and not for search engine indexing.

If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask. Thank you!

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

You can choose to display the HTML sitemap via a page or a shortcode.

Please note that you can’t submit an HTML sitemap to Google Search Console. However, you can submit your HTML sitemap for indexing and help search engines crawl other important pages on your website.

Please check this guide for your reference: https://rankmath.com/kb/html-sitemap/

Hope this helps, and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

Thank you for choosing Rank Math.

I read the guide previously and came for clarification:
    – Do I put the shortcode in a page called Sitemap?
    – Do I work on title tags, meta descriptions and add index?

I have doubts especially about the second point.

    Hello,

Normally, you can create a page with the name “Sitemap” as that is the content of your page. But, you can still use any other name or customize it depending on your preference.

Yes, you can optimize the title and description since it is a normal page on your site. You can also put additional content on that page aside from your URLs.

    Looking forward to helping you.

I didn’t expect such a response. Do you have any examples to inspire?

Unfortunately you don’t use the html sitemap.

Does it make sense to also put the link in the footer for the XML sitemap, in addition to the HTML sitemap?

    Hello,

The purpose of an HTML sitemap is to provide visitors with a structured overview of your website’s content, rather than to be indexed for search engine ranking purposes. Even Search Engines use XML sitemaps as a backup and last resort in identifying the pages/posts/CPTs on your site.

Search Engines prioritize natural internal linking of the pages over the submitted XML sitemap. This implies that if your site has easy-to-understand navigation and clear structure a HTML sitemap might not be necessary.

Regarding your second question about putting the link in the footer for the XML sitemap in addition to the HTML sitemap, it might not be a good idea to make your XML sitemap visible to visitors as the sitemap is dynamic and is generated afresh whenever it is visited. So umpteen visits to the XML sitemap might put unnecessary pressure on the server.

However, it’s essential to ensure that the HTML sitemap is easily accessible and user-friendly, as it primarily serves human visitors, while the XML sitemap is primarily for search engines.

Hope that helps, and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
