What is the best way to use RankMath before Launching a site?

    I’m currently rebuilding a live website lets call it “domain.com”.
    This new version is also live on a subdomain, lets call it “new.domain.com”.

    For multiple reasons the subdomain is live and non-password protected and I’ve gone into WordPress Dashboard “Settings > Reading” and enabled “Search Engine Visibility” to “Discourage search engines from indexing this site”.

    Does these settings disable Rank Math entirely from working until it’s disabled?

    For example I would like to setup all the SEO properly such as setup all the SERPS and tell it to Index properly but doing so would result in Indexing the incorrect domain. Would we need to edit your “Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Global Meta > Robots Meta” and disable the Indexing in there as well or would the Search Engine Visibility disable it completely until re-enabled?

    The end goal would be to complete all the SEO then transfer it back to “domain.com” and then restore the “Search Engine Visibility” to encourage search engines from indexing this site.

    Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

    If you set that setting as you did, your robots.txt should discourage search engines to don’t index it. Some of them could index them since they don’t care about the robots but in that case, even setting them as no-index, they will still crawl your site.

    But luckily, important search engines, like Google or Bing, follow the robots.txt rules, so you can safely work with the Rank Math settings meanwhile setting WordPress to discourage search engines from indexing.

    Hi Alberto,

    I may have explained incorrectly, I was asking is there a way to prepare the SEO while a site is live without it being indexed? (Preferably without having to say not to index as when I transfer it I’ll have to re-fix all that)

    This last comment was more a Question than a problem.

    Hello,

    Yes, as I said, if you set in WordPress the setting to discourage the search engines from indexing the site on, you can safely configure all the Rank Math SEO settings without having the site indexed until you set it live.
