While creating a google app to connect with my new Rank Math installation,
I am finding two options which are a lot confusing.

Would I encounter any errors if I go for standard api and not legacy?

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Google is doing changes frequently there so we can’t tell you 100% sure but I would try and if you have issues, then you will know you need to use the other one.

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

Instead of choosing the Legacy, I went with the standard API. So apparently after some research, I came across the official announcement post of New Search Console API (https://webmasters.googleblog.com/2020/08/search-console-api-announcements.html) and it is indeed backward compatible with no changes in scopes.

I used the following scopes as specified in RankMath’s tutorial on “How To Create a Google API Project For Connecting Search Console”:
    https://www.googleapis.com/auth/webmasters.readonly
    https://www.googleapis.com/auth/webmasters

For most users, the transition to a new API is recommended but not mandatory, they can continue using the old one and that should work perfectly just fine. It won’t be discontinued for at least another year I predict.

    Hello,

We are glad your found the info you needed and thanks a lot for sharing the details.

If you do have another question in the future, please feel free to create a new forum topic, and it will be our pleasure to assist you again.

    Thank you.
