    Hi,

In the 404 monitor i am seeing some weird url’s like these below:

    – “db.sql”
    – “newsleter.php.suspected”
    – “dump.mysql.tar.gz”
    – “db.mysql.zip”

It looks like someone is trying to access the database and dump it. I am not sure if i should ignore this. Does anyone know what these url’s mean?

    Thankyou in advance!

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Yes, it seems like someone is running some bot to check for potential exploits in your site. You don’t have to worry, but I would recommend you to redirect all those URLs to the homepage, and if you don’t have it, to install a security plugin (like WordFence).

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

Thanks for your reply Alberto. WordFence is already installed so that is not the problem

    Hello,

If your site doesn’t have a huge number of 404s, you can head over to Rank math > General settings > 404 Monitor and enable advanced monitor to view the referrer URL for the specified 404s.

Please note we can only tell you about the 404s. We don’t know where they are coming from. You have to check that yourself.

Here’s how to fix the 404s with Rank Math.
