Website migrated – massive drop in search impressions

    Rank Math free

The website we have just taken over uses maths rank.

I’m unsure if it’s a free or paid version. How can I tell from the CMS plugin?

We just migrated our website to another hosting provider – WP Engine and I’ve seen a huge drop in impressions.

Please advise how we reconfigure maths rank post moving to a new server.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

Could you please share your website so we can check as well on our end?

Meanwhile, please check your Google Search Console account’s coverage section to check for any issues reported.

You can upload screenshots using this tool and share the link here so we can check and advise accordingly.

To check if the website’s using a paid subscription, head over to your plugins list section and the Rank Math PRO is a separate plugin from the Free version.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

There are no coverage issues in search console – it looks fine. See https://ibb.co/HpbqKwL

    Keen to know your thoughts.

    Hello,

I inspected your website in Google SERP and there are 88 pages currently indexed.

Can you please click on the “Excluded” tab and take a screenshot of the “Details” so we can further check the details of why these URLs are excluded?

Looking forward to helping you on this one

Sure thing – here you go.

It looks like a lot are being redirected?

Let me know what the issue is.

    Thanks

    Hello,

I can check that you are using the WWW version of your URL and the pages with redirect issue is for the non-WWW version of your site. Since those URLs are being redirected to the WWW version that’s why you are seeing them under the excluded section.

You can simply ignore those errors as your site has a total of 49 URLs and all of them are already indexed in the SERPs.

Google brings a new algorithmic update several times a month and the chances are great that your website got hit by that.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch in case you need any other assistance.

    Thanks.

The traffic drop happened when we moved servers (to our new hosting provider).

    Hello,

I will try my level best to help you get to the bottom of this.

There are a few things you have to keep in mind when using any SEO plugin, not just Rank Math.

    1. An SEO plugin alone cannot bring down or bring up the traffic in a day (or even a few days) unless incorrect Meta Tags are used by setting up the plugin improperly. That’s why we have a detailed tutorial on that:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/how-to-setup/

    2. All the SEO plugins add Meta tags for the search engines which can be checked by viewing the source of a page. For instance, here:
    view-source:https://rankmath.com/

Other popular plugins generate similar tags:
    https://i.rankmath.com/n94KyH

And with the Rank Math plugin, additional tags are added to a page so search engines can understand the content on a website better.

    3. Google brings a new algorithmic update several times a month and the chances are great that your website got hit by that.

We have a full guide on that: https://rankmath.com/blog/google-algorithm-update-recovery/

Technically speaking, we don’t see anything wrong with your pages/posts that could cause to drop in your traffic.

I suggest you observe your traffic if it’s going back to normal after a couple of days or weeks.

Hope that helps and let me know if you need my assistance with anything at all.
