Using GA4 and Universal Analytics at the same time

    Rank Math free

I work with a number of local newspaper websites in the UK (6 sites) and most are still using Universal Analytics to monitor audiences and they are not yet ready to start using GA4.

I want to start collecting GA4 data so that there is some historic info there when UA is evetually swithced off.

I’m looking at moving all sites to RankMath from a combination of other plugins (Monster Insights, AIOSEO, Yoast, etc) but I’m trying to figure out if it is possible to set up both GA4 and UA with RankMath. From the instructions I have seen it looks as though it has to be one or the other – or am I missing something? I know I can have both GA4 and UA on a site at the same time if I code these in manually – but I’m just looking for a simpler way – hopefully wih RankMath.

Also, I have seen some analytics plugins that allow users to switch between GA4 and UA so they can see both sets of data and get used to the differences between the two. Is this possible with RankMath?

    Thanks

    Stuart

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention.

Unfortunately, you would need a 3rd party plugin to add the Universal Analytics (UA/GA3) code or add that manually as Rank Math does not support connecting them both on your site.

You can either install the GA4 code or the UA code with Rank Math.

The best way to use both codes would be to install the GA4 code with Rank Math and install the UA code manually or using some plugin.

    I hope that helps.

    Thank you.
