use ‘Domain’ or ‘URL Prefix’ based property?

    BUT HUGE COMMON SETUP QUESTION – I installed then spent hours trying to really find the answer whether in Google Search Console should I Start by using ‘Domain’ or ‘URL Prefix’ based property?

    AND IF I use Domain it seems to cover all 4 url types ( https, https-www, http, and http-www). Right?….

    BUT I’ve read a few sites that it is recommended to use ‘URL Prefix’, so I first created an ‘https’ property… but the new Console doesn’t have a place to enter the other 3 types so am I supposed to create the 3 others as new separate properties in the Console too? AND if I use this method I should use 301 redirects for these other 3 to https as well, right?

    Very frustrating to find a final answer to move on so big thanks for any tips!

    We recommend that you use the domain property method. It just makes it so much easier.

    Ideally, you only need to verify the www and non-www versions.

    Yes, you will need to 301 other 3 variations to the one variation you choose.

    Just to be super clear,
    + I will use the Domain Property method,
    (hope things don’t get messy since I already used the URL method for just the https).

    + And I will create separate entries for https and https-www.

    + And I will 301 the 2 http variations (though you mentoned3??).
