    Dear Rank Math Support Team,

I am writing to report a critical issue affecting our website’s search engine optimization (SEO). Our pages are displaying incorrect dates in Google search results, despite implementing your schema markup for accurate date representation.

    The Problem:

Our website uses Rank Math structured data to present the correct publication and modification dates for all pages.
However, Google is displaying different, and oftentimes outdated, dates in the search results snippets.
This discrepancy can misrepresent the timeliness and relevance of our content, potentially impacting click-through rates and overall rankings.
    Urgency:

This issue is highly time-sensitive, as inaccurate dates can negatively affect user trust and perception of our content. We rely on accurate date representation for maintaining optimal SEO performance and user engagement.

    Troubleshooting Steps Taken:

We have verified that the published and modified dates are correctly defined in the Rank Math metabox for each page.
We have checked our theme settings and ensured no conflicting date displays are present.
We have cleared website cache and submitted our sitemap for reindexing.
    Request:

We kindly request your urgent assistance in resolving this issue. Please investigate the cause of the discrepancy between our schema markup and the dates displayed in Google search results. We would appreciate it if you could:

Advise on any additional steps we may need to take to ensure accurate date representation.
Offer any insights or troubleshooting tips specific to Rank Math and potential reasons for Google’s inconsistent handling of our dates.
    Additional Information:

    Website URL: https://www.lezdotechmed.com/blog/
There are many blogs representing wrong dates and years. Here is an example:https://www.lezdotechmed.com/blog/remdesivir-lawsuits/

We appreciate your prompt attention to this matter. We are confident that with your expert support, we can quickly resolve this issue and maintain a strong online presence.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

    Sincerely,

    LezDo TechMed

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

You mentioned that you’re using Rank Math PRO but the account you have used to open this ticket is the Rank Math free version.

Can you please search and forward a receipt from FastSpring.com or the email address you used to purchase so we can locate your account and verify it?

Meanwhile, upon checking the URL, it shows the date Oct 31, 2022

    date

The date shown is the only visible date on the post which is from the Twitter thumbnail

    date

Please note that Google picks and shows the dates that they see in the content itself. This is something an SEO plugin cannot control.

One of the most prominent ways (in our experience), is the date shown by the theme on the page.

Google usually picks and shows the date they see in the content itself and shows it in the SERPs. Meaning, that if you have a visible date on your content, that will be picked up by Google and displayed beside the snippets.

The above URL is incorrect. I have attached the correct URL below

What about this blog “https://www.lezdotechmed.com/blog/3m-earplug-lawsuit/”. It shows different date which is not relevant to the content of the blog. I have attached the image for your reference. 3M Lawsuit blog - Wrong date

    Hello,

In the URL you have shared, the date showing on the search results appears twice on your content

    date

As we have mentioned above, if your posts have the date visible in the front end, Google will likely pick it up and show it in the SERPs:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/remove-dates-from-search/#why-google-displays-wrong-date

You can also verify the page’s source code that the Opengraph meta tags (article:published_time, og:updated_time, and article:modified_time) and schema data (datePublished and dateModified) already show the correct dates.

As we know with Google and their guidelines, they don’t always disclose the full sources of their data and they even mention the usage of multiple sources in the article, so it’s possible that the dates on the content are being picked up and Google is getting it from there.

Since the only place where you see the date referenced is on the content, there’s not much left to do in this particular case.

    Looking forward to helping you.
