Understanding required linking

    RankMath asks for this:

    1- Link external resources.
2- Add dofollow links to external resources.
3- Add internal links to your content.

For 1 and 2 what do you recommend? I don’t have in mind anything external I can or want to link.

For 3, I have 400 evergreen posts and I am updating all of them. The question here is what to do about that linking, if it is really necessary and if linking like that will not be worse later on.

If for example let’s say we are talking about “men clothes” and then all the categories and products but with a main “men clothes” page. Linking in the 400 posts to the “men clothes” main page will not affect in any aspect? Having a link in every single page linking to “men clothes” is good? Or how do you recommend to do that internal linking?

    Thank you.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math today.

1).When you write a post, it’s natural to reference other articles, tools, websites, and research available elsewhere. Referencing them in your post just makes your copy look natural to the search engines and the users. Just make sure not to link out to your direct competitors if you want to keep an edge in the SERPs.

2).Google rewards websites which freely link out to other websites while also providing great content combined with good user experience and thus adding the dofollow tag will be good for your SEO.

3).Internal links are a powerful way to improve the SEO of your post and also give your users a better experience on your website. I believe that linking to other men’s clothes page will also help in the discovery of new pages by your users who might be interested in similar products.

I hope this info helps. Thank you.
