Where is it happening? In the Rank Math section when you are editing a post/page snippet? Or in the WordPress settings?

Its permalinks section is grayed out in rankmath. Says cannot update. In wordpress it will not allow me to switch to custom posts. Is there a way to send you a screen shot?

The page referenced on this screenshot here https://www.dropbox.com/s/lqs634u6vr8s4ja/mathrank2.png?dl=0 is set as the homepage. It is not possible to modify the URL that is used for the homepage. This however works for all other pages & posts on your site eg:
