Unable to add more than 1 target keyword to Woocommerce Archive Pages

#57517
  • Hello,

    I hope everyone is well,

I started to use your plugin about a week or two ago, so far I think it is great, however today I have noticed I am unable to add more than 1 target keyword to Woocommerce Archive Pages (category pages).

Is this to be expected with Archive pages or is this an issue? I am using Wordfence, I read something similar that Wordfence was blocking some API requests but I don’t think this is the case here as I am able to add 1 keyword, other keywords are wiped as I hit enter to save them.

    Kind regards,

    Lee

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math today.

In one of our last versions (1.0.43) we added this change: “Allow only one Focus keyword in the Taxonomy pages(Category/Tag etc.), as there are no tests for the secondary keywords”, as you can read here: https://rankmath.com/changelog/.

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

    Hi Alberto,

Thank you for clearing this up for me, I wasn’t sure if it was a plugin conflict so nice to know its not an issue at my side.

I must say, I’m a little disappointed to hear support has been removed for additional keywords altogether rather than improved as some sites like my own do not use regular pages, some e-commerce sites such as my own are built on archives only using dynamic content pulled from product category, so anyone who spent time adding 2nd to 5th keywords and optimizing meta to contain those words would have lost the keywords from the target keyword list altogether.

I don’t know why this is the decision RM made hopefully a valid reason for not increasing support for additional keywords rather than removing them altogether.

Still a great plugin though, just wish I could use the plugin to target more than one keyword. Hopefully, something that may be added at a later date, or maybe I am misunderstanding the benefit of just 1 keyword?

    Many thanks again for replying.

    Kind regards,

    Lee 🙂

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math today.

The reason for the change is because the only keyword tests are done on the first keyword. Further tests on your category keywords pages/posts are pulled from the posts in the categories

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
