Two major errors in RankMath’s sitemap XML

    Hi…

    I’m an Old user of MTS…

    Migrated from Yoast Premium.

    Now, I face Two major errors…

    1 – Sitemap XML returns 404 error frequently in Website as well as in Google Search Console…

    When I Save Permalink, it workes… but after two or three days… the error comes again.

    I’m facing this from the last few months…

    I created a staging site and tested… that has the same issue…

    then I tried a 3rd party sitemap plugin ( Raven ) – That has no such errors till now… ( on the stagging site ).

    2 – Maximum 900 URLs found on sitemap – Google search console & sitemap XML URL

    My settings are 100 URL per file…

    Total 9 Files having 900 URLs…

    My site has 1100+ Posts and still growing…

    My question is, Does Rank Math Restricts or Put any limit to 900 Posts…?

    Hello,

    Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

    It sounds like your sitemap is being cached on your site. Do you have any caching plugin on your site? If you do, please exclude all your sitemap URLs from being cached then clear your cache and resave your permalink settings.

    Once done, please check the following:

    1. Is the sitemap working fine in your browser? You can check that by going domain(.)com/sitemap_index.xml in a private window.

    If the sitemap is working fine, you can try validating it on this link: https://www.xml-sitemaps.com/validate-xml-sitemap.html

    If the validation works, please remove your submitted sitemaps and resubmit only the main sitemap file(sitemap_index.xml) to your GSC.

    Let us know how this goes.

    1 – Sitemap URLs Already excluded in Cache Plugin as well as in Cloudflare Page rules

    Permalink saving is solving it for temporary and the problem came back…

    The irony is…

    My stagging site has the same configurations – Just the sitemap plugin is by Raven…

    Has no issues like this.

    Rankmath ( sitemap OFF ) + Raven for Sitemaps

    2 – Sitemap Limit is 900 ? or 1800?

    Rank math doesn’t add a limit to the number of URLs you can add to your sitemap. You can have thousands of URLs in your sitemap.

    Since you have already excluded your sitemaps from caching and the issue still persists, please share some of the URLs missing from sitemap.

    We might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
