Twitter OG image does not match FB OG even when set

I just recently started having this problem where I will set a social/OG image for the post but somehow the Twitter card image URL is completely different, as though the plugin isn’t explicitly setting it or is looking for the first image on the page. It seems to happen on pages using the Coblocks Author block, specifically. If there’s a conflict here, I can figure out something different, but from my research Coblocks doesn’t do anything with social meta tags, and it seems strange that it would only affect Twitter and not Facebook.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Assuming you are using the latest version of all the plugins and the themes (please update if not yet), could you check if it is a conflict with one of the plugins or the theme you are using.

To determine that, please follow this troubleshooting guide:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/

Please let us know if you find the culprit.

Only the site admin would know and your users won’t be affected by this troubleshooting.

    Looking forward to helping you.

Hi, I don’t tend to just leave broken things live on my site for two days, so supplying you with a link won’t help.

The Fix: What I had to do was specify a Twitter image explicitly instead of using the “use same as Facebook” defaults that you have set. I am on the latest version and this didn’t start happening until recently. We’ve gone 3 months without changes to our plugin setup (and we don’t use a lot of plugins), and we’re using stock TwentyTwenty from Automattic.

I’m also a professional WP web developer. While I haven’t glanced at your recent core plugin code, I’ve been developing themes and plugins for WP for more than a decade. I am well aware of plugin conflicts and how to test for them. None of the plugins we are using (and there aren’t many, and they’re either Automattic-developed or widely tested with hundreds of thousands of installs) conflict with RankMath SEO. I’m unaware of any way the Twitter Card meta could be overwritten by plugins that do not touch our meta data.

    Joel,

    Thanks for the follow-up.

Did you check the page’s source code before and after making this change (uploading a Twitter image separately).

If you are able to replicate the issue, it would be great if you can share the steps so we can try and check the issue from our end as well.
