Turning on Strip Category Base breaks elementor page design

    I am am using Elementor Pro for my website and using Rank Math free version also for my website.

    I am facing an unusual issue when i turn ON Strip Category Base my news listing page design breaks or in other words i would say it doesnt use the default Elementor News page rather it uses default Hello Theme design for page..

    If you can address this issue for user who use free version of Rank Math then i can share more details along with screenshots etc

    Screenshot image will give you very good idea about the issue

    It seems when i turn on this feature it uses default Hello theme for news page rather than the News Page which i created using Elementor.. I have raise this with Elementor also but they also suggested to take this issue with Rank Math support

    I have shared details you requested in Sensitive data area.. I would also like to mention that i had also raised this issue with Elementor support and their support is not able to fix it and asked me to raise ticket with you guys also below is reply from Elementor

    I had tried this with Yoast plugin also but same problem. Link is have shared is the staging site so you can play around and enable Rank Math plugin to test further..

    Hello,

    When you enable the option to strip the category base from our plugin you get two pages with the same URL, the category page for News and the News page that you have set by default.

    This is what causes the issue as you can’t have two pages being loaded on the same URL.

    You’ll need to either keep this option disabled or change the slug of one of the pages to be slightly different.

    Could you please tell me how exactly i can resolve this issue as i have Main News page with Slug = news

    I am not sure how or where to change slug for new category page under Theme Builder templates?

    Hello,

    The default categories slug can be changed by going to WordPress Dashboard > Posts > Categories and editing the “News” category with a different slug.

    As for changing the slug in the Theme Builder Templates the best way to get a concrete answer is from the team over at Elementor as they are more familiar with their page builder and settings.

    Dear Miguel,

    Thanks for pointing our the main cause for this issue, if i change Category slug then issue is resolved but then URL will show different LINK which client doesnt want as he wants link to have news to be part of link

    Main News Page = domain.com/news
    and Year Category to be =
    domain.com/news/2022
    domain.com/news/2021
    domain.com/news/2019
    and so on if i change slug for News category from news to news-category then URL for
    Year Category will be =
    domain.com/news-category/2022
    domain.com/news-category/2021
    domain.com/news-category/2019

    honestly which no one wants.. I hope there was a work around to this problem.

    Hello,

    Unfortunately, we can’t do much here as you are generating the same URLs for the News page and the News Category page when you enable the “Strip Category Base” option in Rank Math. URLs should be unique so only the relevant content will be shown on the browser once it is loaded.
