Troubles with Sitemap updating from Yoast to RankMath

I recently transferred from Yoast (deactivated) to RankMath (activated). What I am trying to do is solve for why, when I click the Sitemap URL under the RankMath tab, it navigates to an older sitemap from the deactivated plugin: “Generated by YoastSEO, this is an XML Sitemap, meant for consumption by search engines.” (see sensitive data)

When I go to RankMath’s Sitemap settings, I get an error message: “Since you are using NGINX, add this code to your NGINX configuration file if your Sitemap pages are not loading or you can ask your hosting support to add it. Click here to see the code.” I am not sure if this is the cause of the Sitemap problem or not.

I ran the Site Health app laid out in the RankMath SiteMap Support Guide and it found no issues.

Regarding the NGINX error, even though I have virtually no idea what I’m doing, I read the guide provided by the link for the RankMath Sitemap Settings error message. It says, “The main config file can only be seen or edited if you’re using an admin user on a Dedicated server.” So, I went to my hosting configurations, it says, “For the tech-savvy, manage your database with phpMyAdmin and run a wide range of operations with MySQL.” There is an option to open the phpMyAdmin database there, but I’m not even sure I’m on the right track. Am I supposed to open this up and insert the code from the error message?

Any help you can offer to update my SiteMap, because I suspect this is the reason my website is not hitting the search engines, would be fantastic.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

If you want, we could take a closer look at the settings and give you better indications of what you can do. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

We really look forward to helping you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

I accessed your site, resaved permalink settings and sitemap settings which seems to have resolved the issue. Even though you have enabled the post sitemap, it will only appear in the sitemap when you add at least one post and mark it to index. You can check the screencast I have attached in the sensitive section.

If you have server cache enabled by your host, please ensure sitemap URLs are excluded from caching by adding (.*)sitemap(.*) into the list of URLs to be excluded from caching.

Hope that helps. If you have any further question(s), please let us know. Thank you.

    Hello,

Since we did not hear back from you for 15 days, we are assuming that you found the solution. We are closing this support ticket.

If you still need assistance or any other help, please feel free to open a new support ticket, and we will be more than happy to assist.

    Thank you.
