Translated URL redirections point to 404, default language is ok

I am using RM on a multi language WP site using WMPL. The default language is English and redirects work well domain/about-us > domain/about, BUT the redirects for the translations domain/nl/over-ons point to a 404 because RM does not “see” the language /nl/ in the url, so it searches for domain/over-ons/ which does not exist. PLEASE help, planning to go live on Thursday.

  • Hi,

Thanks a lot for your query and we are so sorry about the trouble this must have caused.

We might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please include your WP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-security-audit-log/

We really look forward to helping you.

hi, this site is currently only accessible if you edit your hosts file? Would that be possible for you?

    Hello,

Just to be sure, why would we need to edit the hosts file? Is your website just using an IP? Let us know and we will see how we can help you.

    Looking forward to help you.

Because the domain still pointed to the old website, so you wouldn’t be able to access the new site unless you edit your hosts file. The website is now live.

    Hello,

It is fine, just give us (in the Sensitive Data section) the changes for the hosts file and we can try to check it.

    Looking forward to help you.

As you can see from the Sensitive Data field, I have pasted a temporary login url.

    Hello,

I have just checked and meanwhile in the panel, the URL you want to redirect doesn’t seem to keep the language code added (and I have notified devs about it), the redirections themselves seems to be working fine (as I show you in the screencast in the Sensitive Data section).

    Looking forward to help you.

    Hi Alberto,
Indeed, we noticed that the redirections work well, it’s just like you confirmed that the language prefix is absent from the redirections tables in the admin. I am positive this will get fixed in a next update.

    Hello,

We are super happy that this resolved your issue (well, at least the issue has been found and notified to be fixed). If you have any other questions in the future, know that we are here to help you.

If you don’t mind me asking, could you please leave us a review (if you haven’t already) on https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/seo-by-rank-math/reviews/#new-post about your overall experience with Rank Math? We appreciate your time and patience.

If you do have another question in the future, please feel free to create a new forum topic, and it will be our pleasure to assist you again.

    Thank you.
