TOC related analysis not showing

    Hi,

In order to test out Rank Math, I installed Rank Math at my brand new site https://facebeautyhq.com (Right now, only homepage is there.)

In the next few days, I may have to keep sending you support tickets for various bottlenecks that I will face. Also, that which I am not able to get any answers from your KB.

To start with, I want to know if all the analyze tests & parameters are automatically switched on by default in your plugin. Or, do I need to switch some of them manually from your settings, etc.

The reason I am asking this is simple. I read in your article at https://rankmath.com/kb/score-100-in-tests/ about the importance of table of contents.

So, I installed a TOC plugin in my above site. You can see it at work on my homepage.

The thing is that both before as well as after TOC activation, Rank Math analysis while editing homepage did not show anything the TOC requirement.

FYI, as per your reply at https://support.rankmath.com/reply/50425/, I have added the code to functions.php in my child theme. But still the toc related analysis is not showning.

    Why is that?

    Can you please clarify?

    Thanks
    Warm regards,
    Raj

    Hi Raj,

Thank you for your support query.

The tests need not be enabled or disabled.

However, some of the tests do not make sense for the homepage so they are not available for the homepage. Tests like keyword in URL, table of contents, etc.. are not available for testing on the homepage.

For the rest of your posts/pages, we only detect Table of Contents if you are using one of these plugins to add a table of contents section.

Unfortunately, there is no other way to look for a Table of Contents section other than to look for pre-installed ToC plugins like the ones listed above. You also use the filter provided in the above link to manually add your plugin to the compatibility list (or ask your ToC plugin provided to add it to their plugin)

You can also use this code in your theme’s functions.php file to manually tell Rank Math that you are already using a Table of Contents and to pass that test.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Hi Todd,

Thanks for your response. With your first para, are you saying that TOC is not relevant for the homepage.

I would agree with you if the homepage is a blog archive page or a business page were TOC has no relevance. However, in the case of my homepage, I felt it was relevant hence included it.

By adding TOC on the homepage, is it in anyway harmful from an SEO perspective and/or Google ranking perspective?

    Please advise.

Additionally, I have changed the TOC plugin to one of the plugins that you support. And, I have removed the php code.

    Hi V K,

No, it is not harmful to add a ToC to the homepage if it adds value to visitors seeing your homepage.

Do let us know if you have any other queries.

    Thanks, Todd
