Thumbnails is not social on social media.

  • Hello, I am using rank math, I have added 3 sites to my account. Rank math has an option for adding thumbnails for Facebook and Twitter. But when I share my articles on Facebook it shows nothing. I thought there is some errors in the theme and tried schema lite but nothing changed. Is there is any problems with hosting? Please help me to fix this issue.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math today, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

We might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

We really look forward to helping you.

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

I logged into your website’s admin area and found that you’ve not set the social image for your homepage.

Also, the OpenGraph thumbnail is not defined (from Rank Math > TItles & Meta > Global Mata > OpenGraph Thumbnail).

Please set a social image of the recommended dimensions (i.e, 1200px X 630px) and of the supported image types (jpeg, png, and gif) to fix the issue.

Please refer to these guides for more details:

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you.

I have made all the changes that you have noted above. But the case is the same. It is not showing anything when I shared a post on facebook.

    Thank you for your patience.

I’ve checked your posts and replicated the issue upon inspecting using Facebook Debugger Tool.

It seems that you’re getting the error Curl error: 61 (BAD_CONTENT_ENCODING) on your site. Also, the login link you have shared is no longer working.

However, this issue is pretty common with W3 Total Cache users. Could you please check the Gzip compression option if it is enabled on your site? You can check it from W3 Total Cache Performance > Browser Cache.

If so, please disable that option and check again using the tool, and let us know if the issue still persists.

Here’s a link for your reference:

    I hope that helps.

    Thank you.

    Thank you.

Well, I disabled that setting and purge all cache. But the problem is still the same.

We scraped the website again with the Sharing Debugger from Facebook and it seems that the image you have set up is returning a 403 error.

Since this is a forbidden error Facebook can’t fetch the image to display properly.

Here’s a screencast of the issue:

Please make sure that you are not blocking access to the images or files that you want to appear on social media.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.

Hello, I am here to inform you that the problem has been sorted out. I have commented RewriteRule .*\.(jpg|jpeg|gif|png|bmp)$ – [F,NC] on the .htaaccess file but I have a question, is it okay to comment this line.

Yes, You can comment the rules, It will not cause any harm. You can use # to comment it.

    Hope that helps. Thank you.

    Thank you all.

    You’re welcome.
