Structured data: Does RankMath automatically create breadcrumb list?

    Hello,

It seems that RankMath has started to add the breadcrumbList automatically on each page/post. Is that true?

I have tried to validate this using the rich snippets tool: https://snulle.dk/loebeskoe/
And it seems that the “Articles” element is something RankMath creates itself. It consists of a lot, hereamong two identical breadcrumblists. I just want to make sure if RankMath adds this to all my pages, because then i will stop manually creating a breadcrumbList (and avoid having duplicate breadcrumbLists on each page).

And why is it necessary with 2 breadcrumblists?:

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

The link you have shared is showing a 404 page not found error. Could you please confirm if that is the behavior or if it’s correct?

Meanwhile, Rank Math adds the breadcrumbs schema and properly nest it to another schema type like Article.

The nesting is done as per Google’s guidelines to provide all the related info to get rich snippets in the SERPs.

If there was anything wrong with the Schema, Google or the schema validator tool would have pointed that out first. Since there are no warnings, there is nothing to be worried about.

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.

    Please check now: https://snulle.dk/loebeskoe/

It’s a test site so don’t bother the noindex issue, that is on purpose.

So what you are saying is, that the url does not have breadcrumbList duplicates? Please look at the rich snippet test. Atm, i have a breadcrumb item but there is also a breadcrum inside the “Articles” item. That just seems like a duplicate to me.

    Hello,

There is only one BreadcrumbList Schema on the page. You can check the same in the Rich Results test:

The same Schema is being used as the Breadcrumb property of the Article Schema. It will not cause any duplication or issues.

Hope this clarifies your doubts. Please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

Okay, but when i roll out the “Article” schema, there is also breadcrumb?

    Hello,

This is not a duplicate or an issue but Rich Result Test sees it as a nested property in your Article schema but behind it, you won’t see it on our site’s page-source:

    Rank Math support

You can see the other way around with the Schema.org validator: https://validator.schema.org/?hl=en-US#url=https%3A%2F%2Fsnulle.dk%2Floebeskoe%2F

The breadcrumbs schema isn’t there but it was nested to the Article schema.

With that said, this shouldn’t cause any issues when the search engine sees this.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need my assistance with anything else.
