Still have the problem of Twitter card not pulling images

The twitter card problem has returned for the second time – it works fine with older posts, but new posts don’t show the image.

Clearing caches in the website and my browser doesn’t help. I’m using the Lightspeed caching plugin and am on Cloudflare but have been for a long time, but this problen has only occurred over the last week or so.
I also tried deactivating the Blog2Social plugin as suggested but the problem is still there.

  • Hello,

Thanks for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

I checked your latest post with Twitter Card Validator and the preview is showing the correct image.

Please try clearing the cache of your site and check again.

Let us know how that goes. Looking forward to your update.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

Clearing the cache doesn’t help – the post you tested wasn’t the latest – it’s only the latest posts that won’t work – I’ve placed it in the sensitive area.

    Hello,

I checked the post that you have shared and it is also working fine:

Please check again after clearing your browser’s cache and let us know if you need any other assistance.

    Thanks.

Clearing the browser cache doesn’t clear the problem – I have tried it many times and eventually it worked. It appears there’s a long delay from posting until it works.

    Hello,

You should always try to check the post with the Card Validator if the preview is not working on sharing.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch in case you need any other assistance.

    Thanks.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further? I’m still having the problem with new posts even after deleting the website and browser cache.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

I checked and it worked fine:

However, I went ahead and checked your robots.txt file. It has a crawl delay of 20 seconds and it might be the reason you are not able to see the preview on the first attempt.

Please navigate to WP Dashboard > Rank Math > General Settings > Edit Robots.txt and remove the crawl delay and see if the issue is resolved after that.

Let us know how that goes. Looking forward to your update.

    Thanks.

Hey everyone, I just found this thread because I was looking for a solution while having the same problem as the OP.

Somehow the twitter card validator can’t fetch new posts but works on old and updated ones.

We posted our latest podcast episode (https://heldendumm.de/podcast/die-satt-spiele/) about 10 hours ago and the validator still doesn’t show the image despite having it in the source code. Facebook works fine. Could this be a twitter problem?

    Best regards,

    Daniel

I’ve edited the robot.txt as suggested but this hasn’t cured the problem.

    Hello @besiuk,

It seems that the affected post you’re shared is still heavily cached. If you add a random query parameter in the URL while testing it in Twitter Card Validator, the image shows. Please refer to my screenshot below:

My above response may also apply to your site. Please contact your hosting provider and ask what’s keeping your new posts from being cached since we tested it from our end, we have no issues with it.

Looking forward to hearing an update from you. Thank you.

I cleared the cache from Cloudflare in cPanel & seems to have worked – I’ll monitor when I publish more posts today.

I’ve now published two new posts and both times the Twitter Card pulled the image ok, so it appears to be resolved.

    Thank you.

    Hello,
