Hi,
I have the same issue. The category is stripped out only on English and on the first language (Italian) but not on the other ones.

All the plugins are updated to the latest version at today and WPML SEO is active.

Example of permalink for the same category:

Italian (first language): https://example.com/pasta-fresca-corta/
English: https://example.com/en/fresh-short-pasta/
German: https://example.com/de/produkt-kategorie/frische-kurze-nudeln/
French: https://example.com/fr/categorie-produit/pates-fraiches-courtes/

As you can see for German and French the base category appear.

Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Could you please check the settings you have currently for the product categories in the permalink section and make sure that the translations all use the same boilerplate and that all languages have the translation correctly saved?
