Some serious errors due to too many redirections

In our google search console, there is total of 7 errors. Most of them due to too many redirections.

Can we have some solution, where any type of errors like 404, 301, 302, or any other types of errors may be redirected to our homepage?

    What exactly happens?
When we finalize a blog article, then after some weeks, we tend to change the URL of the article, as in most cases, we feel that the old draft of the finalized URL is not good enough. So, after six months or so, there tend to be too many redirections for each blog page. These errors happen in the google search console.

    Can you help?

The redirection is working fine. But due to too many changes in URLs over a period, errors have started coming up.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math today.

Rank math does have an option where you can set the fall back of your URLs, mostly targeting 404s, to be redirected to your homepage. You enable this in Rank math > General Settings > Redirections.

Please note that the fall back behavior will only work on a URL if it no longer exists on your site(therefore leads to 404) and the URL is not redirected somewhere else.

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

Thanks a lot for your reply.

We did understand few things but are confused about the selection of TWO options as mentioned below: –

    Rank math > General Settings > Redirections>fallback behaviour…

    and

Rank math > General Settings > Redirections>redirection type.

Basically, we want all 404s to be redirected to the homepage. We will ensure that there will be no redirect and thus we will get 404s.

Before putting up these questions, we checked up the tutorial too but still found ourselves to be confused.

    Hello,

Your best bet would use the fallback behaviour. But if you still have the issue when using that option, please share some of the affected URLs and also edit the first post on this ticket and include your WP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-security-audit-log/

We really look forward to helping you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

The login credentials of our WordPress dashboard is put up in sensitive data area.

Please check is and get back to us in case of any query.

    Hello,

I checked your site and currently you don’t have any redirections in Rank math Redirections.

Rank math > General Settings > Redirections>fallback behaviour
This determines the destination URL where all non-existing URLs, that are not redirected elsewhere, should redirect to.

Rank math > General Settings > Redirections>redirection type
This is the type of redirection which the URLs redirected by the FallBack behavior are redirected with. It is usually 301 by default which means the redirected URL has been permanently moved.

Hope that helps. If you have any further question(s), please let us know. Thank you.

Refer to your last reply dated 23 Sep 2020.

Yesterday, we deleted all redirections yesterday.

So, now will all the URLs which are not redirected elsewhere, will be directed to our homepage as per the setting β€”Rank math > General Settings > Redirections>fallback behaviour?

    Hello,

Yes, in fact, I tried some random URLs and they were redirected to your homepage.
