Rank Math creates a virtual Sitemap dynamically that you can access by going to yourdomain.com/sitemap_index.xml. Your sitemap no longer exists on the link you have shared and that’s why you are being redirected to the homepage.
I checked and your sitemap is working fine. Please check on your end and confirm.

Thanks for your reply, but earlier, sitemap.xml was being redirected to sitemap_index.xml, now that’s not happening.
Do I need to do a manual rewrite in nginx for this?

Thank you for the update, and sorry for the delay.
Rank Math creates a virtual Sitemap dynamically when you enable that module. We rely on redirects enabled by your server software to accomplish that. If the Sitemap doesn’t work, you may need to add the codes in this link manually:
https://rankmath.com/kb/fix-sitemap-issues/#nginx-server-error
This should also redirect your sitemap.xml to sitemap_index.xml
