sitemap.xml and robotx.txt broken after update

    Hi,

I really like your plugin for its features that actually work and don’t break. But, when it breaks it really hurts.

Before I updated the plugin this morning I was able to see the robots and sitemap files by navigating to them on the browser. After the update, they are no longer working as intended. Sitemap redirects to the homepage, and robots gives 404 error when Rank Math SEO plugin is active.

Another concern of mine is, I see many plugins by rankmath such as SEO for Woocommerce. Should I install this or avoid it if I already have Rank Math installed? I am very confused in regards to this.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Both of the links work as expected on my end. You are also using a JetPack sitemap and this would not be affected by Rank Math updates.
Please ignore the rest of the Rank Math add ons since these features are already bundled in the standalone plugin.

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

    Hi,

The reason you are seeing the current settings is because I disabled Rank Math Seo Suite and activated only Woo SEO and Redirects.

Could you tell me when an update is to be released to mitigate these issues. Ive noticed I am not the only person having these issues.

    Hi Paul,

Thanks for getting back to us.

You can always fix the 404 errors on your sitemap by doing the following:

    1. Head over to WordPress Dashboard > Settings > Permalinks

    Hit the save button once.

    2. Go to WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > Sitemap Settings

    Hit the save button once.

    That should fix the issue.

Please test this out on your staging site if you have already replaced Rank Math on the production site.

    Thank you.
