Sitemap.xlm file after importing from YoastSeo to RankMath

#640708
  • Good morning, I would like to know if after importing from yoast seo to rakhmat I should delete from the root of the domain the sitemap.xml file that I sent to the search console with Yoatseo or leave it alone, because RankMaTh manages the sitemaps alone for example. sitemap_index.xml
    A thousand thanks!!

  • Hello,

    Thank you for contacting Rank Math. We are sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

    You do not have to do anything. During the migration process, Rank Math will import your existing settings from Yoast, including your sitemap settings. This means that your sitemap will continue to function as before, but will now be managed by Rank Math.

    If you see any physical XML files on your website’s root directory, you will need to delete those.

    Lastly, clear your website caches after setting up Rank Math.

    Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need my assistance with anything else.

    Perfect, thank you very much for your precious help. I am happy to use your plugin to have this possibility to feel with you and be safe.
    One last question: I currently don’t have a cache plugin with which I can clear the cache as you ask.
    Can I use some other system to clear the cache? Can you tell me where from?
    Thank you very much for your precious help!!

    Hello,

    Thank you for getting back to us.

    If you do not have a caching plugin or system, then there is no need to be worried about those, as there is no “cache to clean”. However, if you do want to use caching for your website, you can install a caching plugin from the WordPress repository but make sure to exclude your sitemap from the new caching system: https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

    That said, you should also add this code to disable Rank Math transient caching:

    /**
     * Filter if XML sitemap transient cache is enabled.
     *
     * @param boolean $unsigned Enable cache or not, defaults to true
     */
    add_filter( 'rank_math/sitemap/enable_caching', '__return_false');

    You can learn how to add this code to your website here: https://rankmath.com/kb/wordpress-hooks-actions-filters/

    We hope this helps clarify the issue. If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us again. We are always happy to assist you.
