  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

    Please follow these steps:

    1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:
    https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp

    2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

Once done, clear the website cache, remove the sitemaps from the Search Console and add sitemap_index.xml again.

Then wait for Google to recrawl the website and the sitemap and index the pages.

Hope this will fix the issue. Looking forward to your update.

    Thank you.

I followed all the measures u suggested but the problem is yet the same. Plz do something to sort my problem out

    Hello,

We would love to help you further.

I validated your sitemap using the sitemap validator tool and there were no issues detected.

Here is a screenshot: Validated Sitemap

To troubleshoot the issue, could you please follow the steps from our Knowledge Base article here:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/couldnt-fetch-error-google-search-console/

Please let us know how that goes. We would love to help you further.

    Thank you

The problem is still the same. Here are some clues with which you may solve my issue.

    1. inside WordPress general setting, Site Address (URL) and WordPress address was http while my website is SSL enabled ie https. Though once I changed http to https in WordPress but it did not work.

    2. U suggested me in article’s point no. 5.2 to should be four variations of sitemap but in my case, only two variations of sitemap are showing, not the four as below.
    …../index.php/page-sitemap.xml
    …../index.php/author-sitemap.xml

Also, both types of sitemap return Status-code 200 in “https://httpstatus.io/” contrary to point no 5.2 that says only one should be 200.

    3. According to point no. 5.3 which is “site:xyz.com” for example not the actual here, shows three websites in Google instead of the main one. Two of them, on open, show “Oops! That page can’t be found”. One of them which is main shows actual, as it is- with the correct content.

    4. Point no.6 which is “Rename the Sitemap file”, I haven’t tried.

    plz help

    Hello,

Thank you for the additional details.

As you mentioned, I also tested the variations of sitemap using https://httpstatus.io/ and there are two variations returning 200 status. You can have a look at the screenshot in the sensitive data section of this ticket.

Except for the preferred variation (which should return only a 200 status), all the non-preferred variations of the website should have a 301 + 200 status.

Please get in touch with your web host regarding this as they would be able to fix this for you.

Once done, please clear your website and server’s cache (if any) and remove all the sitemaps from your Google Search Console account and submit only the main sitemap (/sitemap_index.xml).

Further, give Google some time to crawl your website again and see if the issue gets fixed.

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you.
