Sitemap not updating

  • Hello. I am continually making changes to my products to improve SEO. Unfortunately, despite RankMath stating that posts/pages changes will be automatically updated in the sitemaps, they are not. I read through the forums and saw that there could be a function added to functions file to purge cache for sitemaps. However, it was not specifically clear to me EXACTLY what to do. In addition, I don’t understand why I would have to do that anyway, Why doesn’t RankMath do that?

    Please explain to me specifically what has to be done in order for me to have my sitemaps updated for the search engines.

    Also, I don’t understand how the “virtual” sitemap works. The RankMath Sitemap settings page specified where the sitemap files were located but I did not find such files under my domain (cause they are “virtual” which to me translates to “invisable”). I need tangible files to make sure updates are made. So I clicked on your sitemap paths, then “viewed source” in the browser, then copied the source info and used that info to create the ACTUAL sitemap files. I did this because Google and Bing were showing they had not found sitemaps for my store and that is how I caught that they are NOT being updated.

    Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

    The virtual sitemap file will be updated automatically without the need to enter additional code on your theme.
    If this is not working as expected on your site then it is likely that your server or caching plugin is aggressively caching your pages and this can be fixed by flushing the cache.

    Creating a physical sitemap file is not recommended since you will need to manually update the file once you add a new post/page/etc.
    Could you please disable the Rank Math sitemap module and install any other third party sitemap plugin and check whether the Bing errors will still be reported?
