    Hi Michael,

    I experience a similar problem as the autohor of this thread.

    My sitemaps are not fetched by Google Search Console and when looking into it I see that my sitemap URLs are all redirected to 404-error pages.

    I setup WP Super Cache earlier today so when I noticed the flaw with the sitemaps I thought the problem was in the cache. I excluded the sitemaps from being cached following the procedure you outlined above, but the problem is still there.

    Do you have any suggestions? Maybe it is a matter of time (I put sitemaps as excluded only 15 minutes ago).

    Hello

    Thank you for contacting the support and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

    Can you please follow these steps?
    1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:

    2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server.

    That should fix the issue. Please let us know if that does not. We are here to assist.

    Hi,

    Thanks, that seemed to partially have sold my issue. 2 questions here;

    1. All sitemaps except for the attachment sitemap are now working properly. The URL https://klassparmesan.se/attachment-sitemap.xml is still going to a 404 page. Do you know why?

    2. Should I leave “Links per sitemap” at 201 as I changed it to or should I change it back to 200?

    Hello,

    1. You should not be indexing your attachment pages as those are thin content pages.

    2. Sure, you can revert to 200.

    OK, thanks. I switch the button then saying I dont want to include attachments in my sitemap.

    1. I see another issue now. My POST sitemap is not working (gets a 404-error and is not included in my sitemap index.

    2. Another question; Should I upload only the https://klassparmesan.se/sitemap_index.xml inside Google Search Console or should I upload all sitemaps (posts, pages, products, product categories) one by one?

    Hello,

    1. Assuming you are using the latest version of all the plugins and the themes (please update if not yet), it would seem like a conflict with one of the plugins or the theme you are using.

    To determine that, please follow this troubleshooting guide:

    Please let us know if you find the culprit.

    Only the site admin would know and your users won’t be affected by this troubleshooting.

    2. You need to submit only the main Sitemap and Google will find the rest of it from the main Sitemap.

    Hi,

    1. Thanks for your input. I actually solved the issue in another way. I figured that maybe the issue was that I didnt have any posts and thus the sitemap wasnt found. So I made a dummy post and after testing the sitemap URL again evrerything was working just fine. Thanks anyway for your great help.

    2. Thanks you. Is it a problem that I already added the other sitemaps to Google Search Console in the past? I couldnt find anywhere where I could delete sitemaps… Now I have all sitemaps inside my GSC account.

    Hello,

    We are glad your issue is resolved.

    You can remove any sitemap on your GSC by simply clicking on it then on your the top right corner there should be three dots for options. Click there and you will see an option to remove the sitemap, here is a screenshot for reference: https://i.rankmath.com/sei6zE
