    Hello!

I have a huge (35000) hierarchical taxonomy for addresses. After addition of the taxonomy, I had to review which plugins and functions to use or not to use. I found that one of the plugins, which is works slow with such taxonomy, was Yoast. It slowly render sitemaps + index sitemap never shows up. It’s totally freezes loading of post editor.

And, the good thing – Rank Math is really faster! Post editor is loads finally. And sitemaps renders way faster, I set 5000 links per file – it was ok.

The only problem that the /sitemap_index.xml is never render same as with Yoast.

I really believe it’s possible for you to optimize the index building for huge amounts of links.

I provide access to my test copy of VPS instance to make your tests, if you need.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention.

I tried login into your website with wp-admin and wp-login.php but it looks like we can’t able to access it. Could you please tell us from where we can login?

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

If you can’t login by standard url – you still loading the production server. Pls, check, did you add the record to you local hosts file, clear cache of browser and restart it.

And check is the name of the website starts with “!!!4TEST!!!”. If opposite – you’re still look to the production server.

I mean – for production server I’m hide the wp admin url, for the test server – it’s the standard url.

    Hello,

We’re still unable to access the login page.

Please share the login details in the below format:

    Admin URL:
    Username:
    Password:

Also, it is easier for search engine bots to crawl the sitemaps with fewer amount of links. Please set the Links Per Sitemap close to 200 and flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast: https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp

Next, exclude the Sitemap files from your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

Finally, clear your website and browser’s cache and see if the index sitemap loads.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

Ok, if you can’t map static ip in your local hosts file – I changed test wordpress settings to use ip address instead of hostname.

    Pls, see updated private data.

    P. S. As about 200 per file – it’s doesnt’ matter, what number is it. Even with default setting it didn’t work – it shows any maps except of the /sitemap_index.xml which is problem – because the index one is necessary to feed all other ones.

    Hello,

Your sitemap is getting a 504 Gateway Timeout when your taxonomy sitemaps are being included in the main sitemap. Please contact your host and ask them to increase the following values in your server:

    PHP Memory Limit: 512M
    Max input time: 150
    PHP time limit: 160
    PHP max input variables: 1000

Let us know how that goes. Looking forward to helping you.

    Thanks.

Yeah, it’s partially help – on second time it renders, suppose, Redis cache builds for the sitemap specifical queries. Or, if I set 10 minutes max_execution_time – it works every time. I can live with that – just to build the index sometimes and submit it manually.

If possible, I’d be glad if in the future You’ll optimize the sitemap index building somehow.

    Hello,

We are glad that your issue is resolved.

The issue here was that you have a lot of entries in your sitemap and your server was being timed out before your sitemap can be generated and loaded successfully. That’s why increasing the PHP time limit or max_execution_time resolved the issue.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch in case you need any other assistance.
