Sitemap in a multilingual web site with WPML

  • Hello
I noticed that the Google Search Console reports problems with sitemaps produced by Rank Math. The site uses WPML to manage languages. Checking the sitemap of the main language (Italian) I found errors in the sub sitemaps:
    – Repeated home links (/)
    – Links to the pages in German and English in the Italian sitemap (in the German and English sitemaps instead the links are only in the respective languages).
I am attaching a screenshot of the Google Search Console panel.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Could you please clear your site cache and then do the following:

    1. Head over to WordPress Dashboard > Settings > Permalinks

    Hit the save button once.

    2. Go to WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > Sitemap Settings

    Hit the save button once.

    That should fix the issue.

If it doesn’t, please do let us know so we can look at this further.

    Hi Micheal

There are no cache plugins on the site.
I made both points, but nothing has changed.

    Hello,

We might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-security-audit-log/

We really look forward to helping you.

    Hello,
unfortunately I am unable to give third parties access to the website for a client agreement. If I can, in any other way, give you useful information, ask.

    Hi,

    That’s okay.

I am unable to view those problematic sitemaps in the browser although the source code is printed just find.

It seems like a conflict with one of the plugins or the theme you are using. To determine that, can you please follow this troubleshooting guide?
    https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/

Only the site admin would know and your users won’t be affected by this troubleshooting.

Also, would be great if we see the specific errors that the Google Search Console is throwing to suggest a better solution.
