Sitemap Error

  • Having an issue. Running Astra with a child theme. I am getting an error of XML declaration allowed only at the start of the document. I have checked everywhere suggested in the Knowledge Base. I have no blank lines in the Theme or Child. Please advise as how to address this.

    I tried to check the sitemap but my IP (for some reason) was blocked by WordFence. Could you disable temporarily the plugin so I can check it?

    Also, that issue is almost always caused by a white space, so if you didn’t find it, if you want, we could take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

    I have been checking it and it seems the problem with the sitemap is some plugin. You got a recovery email in your admin email address. Please check it so we can continue debugging the issue. Once you enable our login again, let us know so I will continue checking it and I will be able to tell you which is the conflicting plugin.

    your login is still active. What recovery email are you speaking about? I did not get anything. Also I ran health Check and disabled all plugins but rank math and it still had the issue.

    Any progress on this? I reset the permissions as you asked and replied yesterday. Have not seen any progress and my site is still having the same issue

    Would you please check your wp-config.php file for a blank line/space. This has also been know to cause this issue.

    I have checked the wp-config file and found no blank line. Also, what happened to the other agent who had been “working” on this over the last 3 days?

    I was able to found where was the issue. I tried in the troubleshooting mode to disable all the plugins except Rank Math. In that case the sitemap loaded.

    After that, I started enabling one by one every plugin from the top to the bottom. After I enabled each plugin, I checked if the sitemap still loaded without errors.

    When I reached the plugin Custom Silo Filter, the sitemap showed the error.

    So I went to the plugin code commented its code, to determine the place where the error happened, at the end of the file was an invisible character (maybe due to different OS where it was coded) so I removed it.

    After that, I remove the comments and checked again and as you can see on your website, the sitemap is fully working.
