  • Hello,

Thank you for getting in touch with us.

Could you please check the following:
    1. Is the sitemap working fine in your browser? You can check that by going domain(.)com/sitemap_index.xml

If the sitemap is working fine, you can try validating it on this link: https://www.xml-sitemaps.com/validate-xml-sitemap.html

If the validation works, please move to the second point.

    2. Have you verified the correct version of your website on Google? Please check if you have verified the www (or non-www) and https (or http) version of your website. If there is a mismatch, please fix that.

    3. Finally, make sure you have cleared the cache and excluded Google bot from seeing a cached version of your sitemap.

If you have followed these and you are able to view your sitemap without any problem, then Rank Math is outputting your sitemap correctly and the error must be coming from Google. You can try and use a 3rd party sitemap plugin to confirm. Just make sure you have disabled the Sitemap module of Rank Math in WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > Dashboard when using a 3rd party sitemap plugin.

If the other plugin works, please do let us know.

    Thank you.

its not googles fault everytime. i’ve never heard someone complaining so much about “googles mistakes” while providing a SEO plugin. wtf.
Sitemaps are not working with big amount of pages/posts on your plugin.
every other plugin was able to generate perfect sitemaps. after installes rank math, sitemaps can not get fetched by google anymore. no matter from wich plugin.
So i guess you added some weird shit into the API what is used to replace robots.txt

keep your hands off something you dont understand, please. and stop saying things like “this company with the best programmers in the world makes lots of errors. but our plugin is perfect” hahaha

    fix this shit.

    Hello @Daniel,

Are you able to submit your sitemap with other plugins?

We understand the issue is not always from Googles end, however it is a likely possibility. The issue is also happening with other SEO plugins as well.

    Please read here: https://support.google.com/webmasters/thread/3280971?hl=en

The most prominent reason behind that seems to be the introduction of the Indexing API
    https://rankmath.com/blog/google-indexing-api/

Google has plans to drop the use of Sitemaps and allow indexing API.

With that said, if your Sitemap is opening fine and online tools, such as the below one, shows no error, you should be fine
    https://www.xml-sitemaps.com/validate-xml-sitemap.html

With that said, always submit only the index of the Sitemap, which looks like this
    https://rankmath.com/sitemap_index.xml

    Hope that clears the confusion.

nope. that clears nothing, as all other websites and their sitemaps are working fine. i ahve several websites. and only the ones with rankmath are bugging with sitemaps. Some can not getting fetched, some are in html instead of xml (wtf?)

I dont think its googles error, if it works fine.
And if its not working, when i put rank math sitemaps inside, its rank math error.
    thats how easy this is

The sitemap is getting verified at https://www.xml-sitemaps.com/validate-xml-sitemap.html site too .. and I have done everything possible like the non-www version thing and all things but still getting this error

    Hello,

    Sorry for the delay.

I’ve checked your sitemap, and it seems that you haven’t verified the www (or non-www) and HTTP (or HTTP) version of your website. Please see the screenshot in the Sensitive Data section.

If that is the website you’re referring to, please follow the steps in this link:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/couldnt-fetch-error-google-search-console/#5-check-for-the-correct-version-of-the-sitemap

I hope that helps. Thank you, and looking forward to your update.
