    Hello Guys,

    Google Couldn’t fetch sitemap error.

i have had a long time issue trying to index all other pages at my website, and today i just checked the site map and found that Google Couldn’t fetch.

i have tried to refresh the site map by deactivate the images and activate again, then make the limit to 201 and then back to 200, clear the cache, submit again, no luck

i have attached a screenshot from GSC and a temporary admin login to the website.

could you please have a look on what’s going on
    Thanks a lot

  • Hello,

Thanks for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

I can check that both WWW and non-WWW versions of your sitemap are returning 200 status while only one version should. Please follow this guide to redirect all the versions of your sitemap to the non-WWW version https://rankmath.com/kb/couldnt-fetch-error-google-search-console/#num-5-3-decide-which-version-www-vs-non-www-you-want-to-use

Once done, remove all previously submitted sitemaps from your GSC account and resubmit your main sitemap(sitemap_index.xml) and wait for Google to crawl it again.

Let us know how that goes. Looking forward to your update.

    Hello,

I can confirm that the variations of the website and sitemaps are properly redirecting to the preferred variation.

i have also tried to rename the submitted sitemap with ?sitemap01 according to the guide

The renamed/alternate version of the sitemap is not available on ?sitemap01, rather, it is on ?sitemap=1.

I accessed the sitemaps as Googlebot and the sitemaps are properly acessible. You can have a look at the screenshot in the sensitive data section of this ticket.

As you’ve re-submitted the sitemaps, please wait for Google to crawl the website again as it would only see the changes once it crawls the website again.

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you.

    Hello Prabhat,
i was writing an update to the ticked then i saw your reply,

i just deactivate the siteground security plugin and google could read the sitemap right away.

i will wait couple of days, till google read my site and index my site as its been almost 3 months and only home page, about and contact us page are crwaled, i still have like 15 pages of services not crawled.

so i guess it was the sitemap issue.

i will wait and once all craweld and indexed i will activate the siteground security plugin and confirm if that was the issue, so you guys can fix it with siteground.

i will update this ticket when i got any new update
    thanks a lot again

    Hello,

You can submit the URLs in the URL inspection tool and request indexing for the URLs.

I’ll also recommend that you exclude the sitemaps from caching.

You can refer to this guide:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

    I hope this helps.

    Looking forward to helping you.
