When I go to sitemap in Google search console – Status is success. Last crawl date is June 07 2022.

MY ISSUE IS THIS: When in Google search console I check on post, pages etc they all say “Indexed, not submitted in sitemap”.

If I then click on submitted sitemap sitemap_index.xml the next page that opens up gives a list of sitemaps read. THIS LIST IS BLANK. It does not list sitemaps for post, page, category.

I’ve read this post: https://rankmath.com/kb/indexed-not-submitted-in-sitemap/ to try to find out what’s wrong. Item 5 in the post says:

    5 Submitted Sitemap Is Incorrect

If at all you have not submitted the correct sitemap, then you need to submit sitemap_index.xml and need to ensure that all the inner sitemaps like post-sitemap.xml etc. are showing up in your Google Search Console while clicking on sitemap_index.xml file.

In my case all inner sitemaps ARE NOT showing up.

To recap: the sitemap_index.xml file appears to be OK, but inner sitemaps are not showing up in Google search console – the list is blank.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting the support and we regret the inconvenience caused.

Indexed, Not Submitted in Sitemap, it is not an issue, it only means that Google has already indexed the posts/pages but not through the sitemap. We checked your sitemaps and they’re working properly.

It is possible that Google is crawling and indexing the post through other means like the internal links on your website and not through the sitemaps. As a result, the crawl budget for your website is exhausted, and Google is not able to discover the URLs through your sitemap.

As long as the URLs are getting crawled and indexed, there’s nothing to be worried about.

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.
