Hey there! I’ve noticed that my site name hasn’t been displaying correctly in google. Example: https://snipboard.io/cAV8q9.jpg Where it says ‘Authentic Thai recipes’ it should say hungry in thailand.

It seems google is favoring my homepage optimization keyword instead of my sitename. I have sitename set up correctly in rank math settings and also in my global wordpress settings.

    My website is hungryinthailand.com

    Any ideas please?

  • Hello,

I apologize for the issue you are facing with your site name not displaying correctly in Google search results. It seems like Google is favoring your homepage optimization keyword over your actual site name.

To ensure that Google displays your correct site name in the search results, you can follow these steps:

    1. Check Your Homepage Title Tag:

      • Head to your WordPress Dashboard → Settings and enter your site name in the Site Title field as “Hungry in Thailand.”
      • You can also enter a site description into the Tagline field.
    2. Update Your Homepage H1 Header Tag:

      • If your homepage is set to display a static page, edit the page labeled “Front Page” in WordPress Dashboard → Pages.
      • Enter your site name “Hungry in Thailand” as the page title and update it.
    3. Add a Site Name to Your Website Structured Data:

      • If you have Rank Math, enable the Schema module in Rank Math SEO settings.
      • Navigate to Rank Math SEO → Titles & Meta → Local SEO and fill in the required fields with your site name “Hungry in Thailand.”

After making these changes, it may take some time for Google to reindex your site and display the correct site name in the search results. You can also request Google to reindex your homepage through Google Search Console or use Instant Indexing if configured.

My homepage H1 is set to ‘authentic Thai recipes’ for SEO optimization. My competitors all have this too, so there must be a way to do this without setting my homepage H1 to my site title name.

    Hello,

    Thank you for contacting support.

Google uses several methods to update the site name and the only one that can be controlled by our plugin is the Schema. That includes the site name as “Hungry in Thailand” already so there’s no need to update it.

The top-level heading tag is a clear signal to Google of what the website/page is all about so it might also use that instead.

Unfortunately, this is not something that can be changed from one place and be propagated to the entire website. It’s all about the signals you are sending to Google via the content and the Schema markup (which is fine).

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.

I see! Do you think that the current situation could be problematic regarding ranking? Could this be seen as grey or black hat even though it’s not intentional to have my site name displayed incorrectly?

    Hello,

This won’t cause any issues with your site’s performance in the SERPs. Your site is providing the correct details to Google. They have chosen to display something else from your content, so it shouldn’t affect your site’s rankings.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Thank you.
