  • Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to us regarding the issue with your website’s main sitemap link not getting discovered.

The main sitemap link not being discovered could be due to various reasons. One common reason is that Google can discover your URLs through methods other than the sitemap itself. These methods include instant indexing APIs, backlinks, and internal links.

To troubleshoot this issue, you can follow these steps:

    1. Check Other Discovery Methods: Ensure that your website has proper internal linking and backlinks from other sites. Google can discover your URLs through these methods even if the sitemap is not being used.

    2. Validate Your Sitemap: Confirm that your sitemap is correctly configured by using a tool like Validate XML Sitemap. This will help ensure that there are no issues with the sitemap setup.

    3. Ensure Sitemap Accessibility: Check if your sitemap is accessible using a tool like httpstatus.io. This will help identify any issues preventing Googlebot from accessing your sitemap.

If after following these steps the issue persists, please reply to this ticket, and a human agent from our support team will assist you further.

Thank you for your understanding and patience.

    Best regards,
    Rank Math Support Team

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Please note that the Discovered URLs 0 that you see in Google Search Console just means that the URLs in the sitemap were already found by Googlebot by other means, instead of via the specific sitemap. For example, Googlebot may have found the URLs from internal links or possibly from links on another site. It mostly happens when you have good internal linking or use the Instant Indexing plugin.

In your case, it seems like Google has already discovered the URL via your sub-sitemaps and that’s why it is showing 0 discovered URL for your main sitemap.

Hope that helps and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you.

When I was using the SEOpress plugin before Rankmath I did not have this problem I think it is a
    problem with your plugin

    Hello,

From your screenshot, you have submitted your index sitemap and other submit sitemaps.

Please note that you only need to submit your index and Google will use it to crawl the other sitemaps.

Once done, resubmit your main sitemap only by following the steps in this link:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/submit-sitemap-to-google/

    Hope that helps.

The reason Why I submitted another sitemap is that the search console is not detecting my main sitemap if that was not the problem why would I submit the other links kindly guide me how to resolve it

    Hello,

Please share a screenshot of the error you saw in the Search Console after submitting the index sitemap so we investigate this for you.

    Looking forward to helping you.

there is no error the point of concern is why page discovery is zero and due to this my website impression has dropped to zero while I’m using the same sitemap on the Bing search console I’m getting 150+ daily impressions and increasing regularly on Google it dropped from 150 to 10-30 daily impressions

    Hello,

We understand your concern. But we’d like to assure you that this will not affect your site indexing. Sitemaps are just one way in which Google discovers and indexes URLs. It can however make use of other methods such as instant indexing APIs, backlinks & internal links, and sub-sitemaps.

Here’s a link you can check for more information:

We hope this clarifies the issue and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

Please remove all previously submitted sitemaps in your GSC account. Then resubmit only the main sitemap_index.xml and wait for the last read date to update to the current date. Let us know if Google still shows zero discovered URLs.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

Please note that if your pages are getting indexed on Google, you don’t have to worry about this issue.

However, you can try to remove the submitted sitemap and resubmit /?sitemap=1 on your Google Search Console and see if that works for you.

Since your pages are already discovered by Google, if you want, you can ignore the issue.

Hope that helps and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you.

Hi it still didn’t resolve the problem according to my research that _index.xml portion is main cause of the problem is there any way we can convert sitemap_index.xml to sitemap.xml with rank math

out of 178 articles that I have published on Google there are currently 30 articles being displayed on Google Due to zero sitemap problem

    Hello,

As we have previously mentioned, discovering your URLs via sitemap is only one of the other methods bots use to crawl your URLs.

You should check your Google Search Console coverage section to determine any issues reported on your URLs that may have prevented your site from being indexed:
